I have an albino African clawed frog and was wondering how it would fare with bichirs when it's full grown. I know the dwarf frogs are part of the natural diet and kinda figure the ACF are too. I currently have 2 senegals, a delhezi, and ornate, but plan on a couple more. Just curious, I know the ACF are hell on little fish, as are the bichirs. But if a full grown ACF is 4-5" long, would it really be in danger by a bichir?

If a full grown bichir got hungry, a 5 inch ACF would look like a nice snack. Of course, I'm referring to larger species of bichir, such as lapradei.

Thats kinda what I figured. It will probably be a while before I get any of the BIG bichirs (the ornate will get that way, but I got to get him eating better first). The ACF was kinda a spur of the moment purchase, but still cool. Guess he stays in his 10g by himself for now.

I've actually had ACFs kill bichirs (and a black ghost knife) buy inhaling their head and suffocating them. I wouldn't worry about any of the smaller bichirs eating the frog either.

Had never thought of that happening. Scratch that one off the list. I'd rather lose a frog than a bichir anyday.

we'll if you had a big bichir with big frog it might work but if the frog is small and the bichir trys to eat it the frog can use its claws to scratch the bichirs eyes and throught and big frogs can eat small bichirs so you got to be carefull

no frog in the world could possibly eat a bicher no matter what the size ratio is! i have kept bichers for years there my specialty! all polypturus are coated with a poison, the only thing that will eat a bicher is another bicher, where do you get your information from? we can all make things up but it dont help anybody! and ornate bichers would rip any size frog to peices if not fed!!!

just saying

I second Anne's request for evidence. Odd how an expert would spell "polypterus" incorrectly..
