Okay, so in late october or sometime in novemeber im going to get a 55g.

Filtration

I was planning on using my current canister filter which is rated for 30 gallon then i was going to buy another one of them same kind or a bit bigger, and then buy a small one. Both the bigger ones where going to be on the ends of the tank with the smaller one in the middle with a spray bar.

Water changes

Now this is the part im confused in. Some say they need it everyday some once a week. I was planning to have 5 alone, with a med to sub heavy planted tank. Now does the new water have to be the same temp or can it be a bit cooler and i can just add it in slowly. I was planning a once a week change.

The fish itself

I was going to get them from my LFS. They get them from a guy in germany, you may know him i dont know. But i was going to get 5 4". I dont believe in acclimating them, ive been floating for about 3 years and im doing great so far. As for food I was thinking frozen bloodworms and brine, with a live treat of brine.

IF THERE IS ANYTHING I MISS TELL ME!! Or if anything is wrong or should be changed tell me as well.

A varied diet is the best. I feed mine blood worms, brine, beef heart, and flakes on a rotating schedule. My breeding pair get mainly an alternating supply of high quality blood worms and beef heart from my LFS.

if the fish are 4" or more then you don't need everyday wc's although some will disagree. I have 8 wild adults in a 120 gal. and do one 60% wc every 5 or 6 days. I would go with one larger filter instead of two smaller ones. try to match the temp for wc's. a degree or two won't make a difference. I use a python and just feel with my hand. feed them flake or discus pallets also. brine shrimp is not the greatest and they need more than bloodworms. freeze dried blackworms are very high in protien and discus love them, although a bit expensive. don't know what your lfs has but I would never buy discus from one. it's not only where they get them but how they care for them in the store. good luck.

They take well care of them there in there separate tank with there own filtration. Ill look again as for food, but does everything else seem right though?
