i have a 5" carpintis which has developed what looks like some sort of sore on his lips,at first i thought mouth fungus so treated.after treatment the white was gone and what was left looked like he has bucked teeth(sorry thats the best way i can describe it) i have a hard time getting decent close ups of him so no decent pics yet.after a week the white colouration was back so this time i left it alone for a week, kept up my weekly water changes and the white dissapeared on its own but still these wierd growths protruding from his lips.help with this very much appreciated as he is my favourite and outher than his dodgy dentistry a real looker.heres the best pics i have at the moment.

What else is in the tank? It looks like he broke his jaw. If this is the case their is nothing you can do, sorry. He's gorgeous.

didn't look that bad to me ... but Chicklette may have a point, are there any other fish in the tank that your Tex might have lip-locked with?

I have two acaras that lip-lock on a regular basis, and their mouths are constantly beaten up ...

he has not locked with anything as he is in a tank on his own,he can close his mouth ok but generally keeps it open and can extend his mouth like they do.thanks for the replies.
