So i ordered a new motor after sand destroyed my old one. I put the old impeller in the new motor and the impeller will not spin. I have no idea why. Does anyone know why this might be happening.

The impeller might be damaged as well.

So I should order a new impeller too

Yeah are you sure the old motor was bad in the first place? It mat have just been a bad impeller.

Believe it or not this is the second impeller i have had to replace beacuse the filter would constantly make loud noises and I had to constantly adjust the impeller to get it to become more silent which would never last. I assume sand was the issue because when I first got the filter in like 2008 it was fine but after like 6months a bunch of sand had accumulated in it(my fault) so I eventually replaced the impeller but the sound didn't stop so here I am with a new motor. I honestly think I scratched the old motor up trying to get the stupid impeller out(Ino ino im retarded). So that's the story. My aquaclear 50 is running very smooth. If only my 110 would run smoothly.

I have problems with one of my old aquaclear 70's, often it will not turn on when I plug it in, I move the intake to the right(how you reduce flow) and stick a knife down into the impeller chamber to nudge the impeller, this usually starts it right up.

That's what I used to have to do all the time because sometimes the filter would just stop and sometimes it would suddenly make this horrid grinding sound.

i bought a ac 110 few years back... kept breaking on me so i switched over to the marine land ones and haven't had problems since :)

LOL. I get a kick out of this cuz not too long ago some guy was asking everyone whether to get an ac or a marineland and i said marineland, but most other people said ac.

I run AC's on ten tanks and don't have any problems with them. I have 3 marineland emperor 400's and I am trying to sell them on CL cause I hate them. They were noisy and had trouble getting them going. I wish I could tell you what to do but like I said I never had a problem with an AC.
