When I go to look at the tank, my archers are usually hiding and a really dull grey color. When food hits the water, they get really nice, shiny, and a light bright green. I am worried there is something wrong wit them. Is there?

mine were like that but they were fine... i think lol- they definately perked up when i put a cricket in for them lol- though now i think about it they weren't ALWAYS like that just occasinonaly- mabye they're still a little nervous- they are very skittish at first for a while... have u recently bought them or had them for a while? what are the salt levels, PH etc... actually i think i MIGHT know what it is... when they are the dull clour is the light off or just on... coz mine were bright and playful with the light on but dull and sort of depressed with the light off... again ocasioinally but it may be it... post the water specs and hopefully someone will be able to locate the prob, hope i have been of some help.

That is the issue. Put a light on that thing. 8-9 hours on per day.

:grinyes: :clap :clap :grinyes:

Question: Why have you left your tank unlighted for so long? Low lighting can cause serious problems in fish, on a nuimber of different levels. I could go into it all right now, but I will spare you, LOL. I agree with Matt, you need to light that thing up with the correct lights a.s.a.p!! Let us know how he is doing in a week or so of regular lighting.

I haven't had the money to get the lighting that I want, but I am not going to wait anymore.

They are doing great, they eat lots of krill and go crazy when its there.

My archer did terribly in FW, but when put into brakish it had colors like you describe. I lowered the salinity and had his color come back. I dropped to 1.010 if I remember correctly.

That is what he is at right now.
