I have an almost 4" jack has lately no been eating and has very scared and hides so I did a water test and nitrates were high so I have been doing water changes and my nitrates are pretty low but he won't eat still. Can anyone help. I don't know why my nitrates were up cause I always do weekly 20% water changes and he is only in with 7-8"oscar and a 3" meeki in a 55 soon to upgrade. Is there a reason why my nitrates went up

is the oscar beating him up

I feed them pellets and they are all eaton in about 30 seconds to 1 minute. i gave them feeder fish a 2 and half weeks ago and he stopped eating about a week and a half. My oscar most of the time leaves him alone but my jack just sits in the corner. How come now my oscar is causing the nitrates to go up because i have not had a problem with it for months.

I have had similar problems with my JD's from time to time when it comes to eating and hiding. Have you tried any frozen foods? Mine seem to not be able to resist those...

where did you get the feeders from? unfortunately he may have eaten a feeder that had internal parasites.
