Problem with Oscar

I bought a baby oscar yesterday and today I saw a white string looking thing hanging out of his backend. Is that the color of their poop or is that a worm or something.

could be a number of thing, white stringy poop is definitely a sign that something is up but it could be anything from parasites to simple constipation

When a fish goes, it doesn't zip out like how you would do it. Chances are it's just fish crap.

Check your water parameters. Could your ammonia be very high?

If a Fish hasn't eaten a lot it will deficate white stringy excriment. It's normal Feed it a "Good" Food, NOT JUST FEEDERS, and you will start seeing normal BM's....


Feeding an Oscar only feeders can lead to many Vitamin deficiencies ultimately leading to diseases such as hole in the head. Feeding feeder fish is fine just make sure that you Also feed a variety of other foods that contain a good source of vitamins. A fat fish is NOT a healthy fish! Just like Humans!

And Definitely make sure that you have more than ample filtration fro that little guy. You will soon need it!
