Hi all :) I'm new here but a friend told me this would be the place to ask if I have a fish issue.

I have been trying to keep guppies as feeders for my turtles. The adults live in the turtle tank until they get eaten and I move any preggo females that look like they are going to burst into my 'baby tank'.

At the moment I have 1 adult female, 1 almost adult female and 1 adult male that I were left in my turtle tank.

Two days ago I moved the adult female into the baby tank because she was getting close to giving birth. She is in there now with about 20-25 babies of different ages. Many of which are hers from the past 2 days.

Today I noticed something growing on the other two guppies that were in the turtle tank. Here are photos of the male:

He has many of these things growing on him, from what I can see the young female has only 1 on her tail fin.

What is it?

Should I be worried about this being passed on to the turtles?

If it is some kind of parasite, if these guppies are gone... is it safe to put new guppies in there or will they get it too?

Will I have to treat the water? Is the treatment safe for my turtles?

Should I be worried about the older female in the other tank with all the babies (she shows no signs of the growths yet)?

Help!!

I looked it up and visited the pet store and it turns out that they have Anchor Worms.

The treatment I was given for it is Dactycid Colombo Cerpofor, which is supposed to fight against all types of worms, including the anchor worms.

Is this safe to use in my turtle tank? Apparently these worms are incredibly contageous and the guy at the pet store wasn't sure if the turtle could catch them or if this was ok for in turtle tanks. Since my guppies are moved between both tanks, both will have to be treated.

I just wanted to check here before using it. So if someone could let me know soon, if it's ok I'd like to start the treatments right away.

Thanks!

Im not sure if the worms would tranfer to ure turtles but why take the chance.? check with the manafacturers wesite of the medicine maybe they have info if it effect turtles??? sorry im not any help.

I second that. See if the manufacturer has a phone number, email, other contact....

Yeah the problem is that they are based here in the Netherlands and they don't do 24 hour customer service here for -anything- and aren't open again until Monday, so I didn't want to put it off that long :/

I second that! I would move the male to the breeding tank and treat the fish seperate, then when you have all the information you need about if its safe for the turtle afterwards I would do it as a percaution when you put the fish back to the turtle tank.

Saltwater dip, guppies love saltwater but fresh water parasites do not!
