Hi.
I am very new here and have a quick question about my undergravel filter.
I have a 29g tank with 4 fairly small community fish in it.
I have had a undergravel and a Tetra whisper (hangs on the back) running since cycling before the fish were in weeks ago.

Today I noticed that the uplift tubes are barely putting out any air/ water back into the tank. I dont know if this means the airstone is going bad or what but I am not sure what to check next.

I did a 30% water change yesterday and they seemed to be working fine when I turned them back on after that.

Any suggestions on where to go next with this problem or if the Tetra Whisper filter on the back is enough to do the job?

Thanks in advance for your help! :)

I'd check your air pump, to make sure it's putting out enough air, then your air stones to make sure they're not clogged.

Or you can always order an emperor 280 from foster and smith. :D

I believe your airpump is not pushing hard enough
check for kinks in the airline hosing
pull the airstones off and run it without them to see if they are clogged
consider a larger airpump

(and pull it out of there and replace with a HOB like Emperor/AquaClear if your whisper is too small)

These are the best airstones on the market (for the price)

 I have to concur. :naughty:

Undergravel filters work better if powerheads are attached. And you would never have to worry about airstones going bad.

In my opinion, undergravel filters with powerheads attached is the best filter out there. And yes, I do own and operate several Rena XP3 cannister filters and several Aquaclear 110 hang on back filters.

I have no idea how he masculineated the filter :confused:
