so, i got ich in my 75. so, standard heat treatment. im trying to heat it to 90 because its planted and didnt want to add salt. but for some reason 600 watts of heating power is only getting it to 85, both heaters are turned up all teh way but they stop heating at 85, even though the heaters go up to 90. im using a digital probe thermometer, two in fact, both read 85. so, what im wondering is will the pothos in my filters tolerate salt treatment, ive got mostly java fern and anubias which will tolerate salt, ive done it before. i dont know about the huge pothos in my filters though. any advice on how to get the temperature up or if the pothos will be ok with salt will help greatly. thanks in advance

Not sure about the salt and pothos , you can probably do without salt just be sure to have plenty of aeration. Try Letting the room warm up a bit maybe that will help the temp and make it easier on your heaters , 86 should be a good temp

Well, I insulated the bottom and sides of the tank with styrofoam and it did bring it up to 86.5 which hopefully will work. I also had that kordon ich attack herbal stuff so I'm trying that too. It doesnt have the greatest reviews but it couldn't hurt. Plus I'm dosing at 200 percent. Hopefully the temp and herbal stuff will be enough to take it out. It is a. Very very small outbreak

i use the heat treatment as well in my quarantine/hospital tank. I purchased 3 baby keyhole cichlids which appeared to have ich. I havent seen them in LFS in my area for 6+ years so I had to get it. cranked up the temp to 84degrees and left it for 2-3 days and it cleared up. Use lots of aeration like mentioned earlier.

i used one and a half teaspoons per gallon of sea salt and 80 degrees. the salt was the anti caking / iodide free stuff from the local grocery store. the last signs of ich are almost completely gone. i have one big green leafed plant in the tank and its fine after 6 days.
