Are there any known issues with using these to connect pieces of PVC pipe? They show "sewer use only" which makes me fear a leeching possibility. But they are so convenient to use, darn it. They're particularly great at the pump as for not only ease of break down, but also as a dampener for sound and vibration. When I can I'll mate the PVC together under the collar to minimize contact with the rubber.

But has anyone heard or had an issue with them? Or has anyone used them for a really long time with no issues, like a couple decades or longer?

I have used them, but only for a year or so.

I also use them, even on my salt water setups...There is another thread about this where someone states there safe for potable water, which is usually how we determine if there safe or not. Being safe for potable water is not always a fail safe though. The 300 gal rubbermaid stock tanks everyone uses are safe for potable water but do leech some toxins into the water when heated so its always a debate. I'd say it should be ok but someone else may have some more information on the subject.

Cool.. thanks for the replies.. I figured this might be case, but the warning on the label had me wondering. It might be because you're not suppose to use "rigged" fixes like these collars on water lines so might have nothing to do with leaching.

If I had to guess at why they say "sewer use" is probably because they don't have a pressure rating. Incoming water is pressurized , where a sewer is basically gravity feed.
