My Eheim 2217 is giving me issues it sounds like it is expelling air evey few minutes for the last week. It started a couple weeks before I cleaned it (6 months since last clean). Thought that after the cleaning it would be OK but the same sounds. I have two on a 90 gal tank.

I can't deal with the noise long term but don't want to invest in a new one if there is some reason anyone thinks this may be happening.

Can anyone give me any advise?

Check all you seals (gasket on the motor head, quick disconnects) you could be drawing in air from somewhere. You can use some Vaseline to give it a little better hold. OR try shaking the canister just a bit to release any trapped air, just do this a little at a time or it will cause the prime to be lost. Hope its something simple like that, cause Eheims aint cheap!

Any leaks? Maybe the intake side is sucking air. Mine was noisy for this reason. Ended up that my intake double-tap wasn't sealing completely. A little Vaseline fixed that right up.

Im having an issue with my Eheim2217. I cleaned it for the 1st time....my brother left this aquarium&I'm taking care. So I have plugged it in and 1st it sounded like it was trying to suck water in but couldn't....now it sounds like a perkulator...for a coffee maker!

What should I do? It's not doing what it should be.

Prime it correctly. Take off the spraybar attachment and Sucking on the outlet should fill the canister. Then turn it back on... After it starts spitting water give it a nice shake ! That should release any other trapped bubbles.
