problems with external gills and clown loaches?

Has anyone kept juvi polys with external gills with clown loaches? i have a lesser siren comming tomorrow and i'd like to put it in the tank with my 5 3" clown loaches, hoplo catfish and pleco but the only concern i have it the loaches nipping on the gills. no one has come forth with a siren/loach mix so im hoping someone with a juvi poly/ loach mix would have a similar experience.

Just watch those polys as they grow, and maybe the siren too. Polys have a habit of trying to swallow things similar to themselves in size. And I have seen an axolotl swallow a clown loach and then regurgitate its stomach to get it out. Although the loach was swallowed and the axolotle was spined in the stomach, both were fine. But I pulled a 3" roseline shark and a 3" celebes rainbowfish out of my 3" endlicheris mouth before I learned my lesson. The other 2 fish did not survive.
