Problems with my alligator gar

HI friends I buy one alligator gar, but I feed it with live food (little fish like kois) last 2 weeks , but I want to feed him with pellets or little pieces of meat, to keep it healthy.
My gar have 4 days without eating anything, he don´t want to eat meat pieces..and I don´t want to feed it with live fish
Please help me, what can I do to make it eat??
He lives in a 150 G tank with a green terror..
 
How big it your gar?

If its big enough then you can starve it to eat what you want....
 
i dont know what you can get in mexico, but if you can get some white bait, or sprats what ever they are called, wiggle them around on the top of the surface and he should take them eventually, if you dont offer anything else
 
use a feeding stick with a piece of shrimp on the end of it. dangle it in front of his face and he will more than likely strike at it. if this is indeed an alligator gar you shouldnt have any troubles...they are eating machines. do you have any pics by chance.
 
I don't think you need to starve him, and really that isn't that great of a method IMO. I have had no problem using a feeding stick to get them to strike at none live foods. They can go a while without eating so don't be concerned about that, but keep offering him non-live foods.

How big is he right now?
