Just curious if anyone has ever caught one in the wild, I live in Sarasota, Florida, I don't really want to spend $25 for one at a lfs if i can go catch one :)

i actually have breed them. i have about 12 in one of my tanks right now, if you like i can try shipping you one

Myakka man, just keep trying. they are out there. I've only caught two i think in my life here, but there are some out there.

Cast net or a big dip (shrimp) net just around vegetation close to the shore. of course watch out for the gators. I have caught two by the dam at the actual state park part. My friends have caught a few there too.

We haven't tried traps yet, but we don't really go out there to catch the craws. I'm pretty sure a trap would work unless a gator or big catfish wrecks it and the water isn't flowing too quickly.
