Prochilodus as cleanup crew

I have heard that flag tails need alagae but will they scrape it off the sides of the aquarium or do they need it in the form of pellets?

They'll rasp on anything......be it algae, anywhere!, left over food, even other fishes slime...LOL

So do they hurt the other fish when rasping?

They will take the slime coat off fish, but keep them well fed and it shouldn't be a problem.

Some have killed the fish....I recently had to pull a 12" out of the aro tank.....everything was fine for few days, then one day....came home and one silver aro had his whole back and side rasped clean to the bone (scale) LOL

Took forever to heal.....scales are still pit'd

FF's might not make good tankmates for few fish. ie....stingrays, bichirs, lungfish
