Product Review:Coralife Super Luft Air Pump

Good question. I'm looking for a new (quieter) pump to put in my basement.

They work well but are slightly noisey and IMO way over priced for what you get. I run all of my Hydro5 foam filters with $11.00 MA-600 dual outlet air pumps by million air. I can't honestly think of a reason to spend more money on a piece of equipment with basicly the same design...All of ours are VERY quiet unless you place them on a resonant serface and then all you need to do is slip a block of foam under it.

I've compared the MA-600 to just about everything out there and they are as reliable...powerful and as quiet as pumps costing many times more.

on a noise level from 1-10 what would you rate it?

2...you can't hear them over the waterfall sound of a HOB. In fact the bubbles breaking the serface in the fry tank make more noise than the pump does..

How many sponge filters can you run off of them? My pump is in my basement and runs 5-10 filters on the ground level.

Thats not to bad. I can always just construct a box with foam pad walls and a vent in the back for cooling and air intake. that should quiet it down a little

I usually run two hydro5's with round air stone off of each pump and get plenty of output even in 30" deep tanks. I would imagine that in shorter tanks they could run even more of them but I have my tanks scattered so it's easier to have several MA-600's For the price you can certianly run more than one of them.

Honestly...I'd set one up and listen to it before building a muffler box. These things are a TON quieter than most diaphram pumps.
