Hey just a little heads up for you guys if your ever thinking of buying either the JEBO 819 or the aquanova 1200Lph model.
-Aqua nova-
This super cheap cannister has been spectacularly good to me and I would thoroughly recommend it to other people. As expected the media that comes with it is lacking, but thats nothing a box of noodles wont fix. It runs pretty quiet, and Im yet to have any leaks in around 3 months of usage. This unit cost me 130AUD which for a 1200lph cannister is pretty dang good with the eheim cannisters running at around 350AUD.
When it comes to service time the aquanova is a breeze, you just pull the little latch at the front and that blocks off the hoses and you dismount the power head with the four clips that surround it. What probably places this cannister above the Jebo is the way you prime the cannister. There is a big, round, fist size button you depress which primes this great little unit with water from the tank.
So far so good, and for 130 dollars Im absolutely stoked with this little baby
-Jebo 891-
Well this is really only the first impressions of the jebo as I just got it today. It set me back around 180AUD. The media that comes with the jebo is also a bit of a joke, they put around 1/5th or less of the worlds most crappy noodles in which I was a bit PO about. The fittings for the hoses that come with the Jebo are a mark above the aquanova as it has little taps instead of a single latch. Im not really sure which system I like best as they both work adequately.
The most annoying part about the jebo is the method of priming it. There is a frustratingly crappy little hole in the top where you put in water once youve already bulk filled it so the water reaches the power head
. To me this is a really poor addition to the unit and left me wishing I bought another aqua nova and had that extra 50 bucks for noodles or something else. Anyway, Ive got it all primed now and it runs beautifully.
I hope this gave anyone who was thinking about buying either of these filters an idea of what there like also got my frustrations with my new purchase off my back
. Goodluck with your purchases
