Hello cicha keepers!

I am in the process of building myself a 250 gallon (960 liters), 6.6' x 2.6' x 2' (200 x 80 x 60), and you may have found me around gathering informations in different forums, in hope to find the perfect balance in my population to come.

I do have a Kelberi at the moment, which is sharing a 180 gallon with my aurantis (Thank god my new tank comes before spring :O), and will be one of the fishes I want in the 250. I have decided to go for a group of 5 Odoe (I was told 6 would be fairly alright, but I'd rather less than too much), one arowana of undefined type (Jar, Asian, or most likely, african) and a Tigrinus or Juruense cat.

As I came to read these boards, it turns out Pbasses do better in groups of at least 3. Would 3 Kelberis be alright in this setup? Am I better off with the one because of the other tank mates? It seems all I can get are Kels and ocells, and while i'd love an Orino, I'll have to go with Kels, being the smallest of the two I can put my hands on.

Looking forward to your replies. :D

Anyone? :o

I'm no expert on any of the species you named but if you do get an aro of any other type besides African I have a feeling those odoes are going to have a bad time. The odoes are going to need to be of a larger size I would guess when you drop them into a set up with bass aros and cats, the snakehead I have no idea since I can't own one lol.

Yes, that was the conclusion I made about the aros, a Jar would probably absolutely destroy the Odoes, and even if they were to defend themselves bravely, losing a Jar isn't of any consolation!

I am definitely going for an afro, and therefore the real question is: Would 3 Kels and 4-5 Odoe work in 250G? :)

the jar would not lose to 6 little odoes hahaha.

I don't know about the kels, I don't know which bass get bigger than the others, but the odoe will do great in there haha

Haha I hope so!

I've never had Odoes, the closest I had were 3 red tail cudas, and they were skittish, which would make sense, with a Jar, Gar and some other very charismatic fishes. ;O

Hence why I want more Odoes and less other fishes ;P

Awesome :D Hope you like them, and I hope I'll like them as much as I hope you will! ;)

I really want them, and I want to see their behavior, but there is no way I could rehouse my Kel, it would break my heart. I just hope I can give it a couple more friends. :O
