Its been a while since an update but the tank is almost up and running.
First three are of the stand may look unsafe but isn't done yet. Still have the center brace and another leg.
The next are of the tank and it progress. Using an aqua 70 for filteration but will be adding more later on. Will be the Oscars and Silver Dollars Tank.

Please I need advice on the stand to know if it will hold enought to support a 55. My dad jumped on it with a piece of plywood on top and held so I think that its okay. Will update by next week so look for another update. Fish will be in by December.
That mean for fish for the current running 55 :headbang2

Thanks and the stand isn't completely finshed.
Forgot to mention in first post the hoods are coming in the mail

The stand is MORE than strong enough. I have 50/55/60 gallon size tanks (all 4 footers) on some stamped metal shelving with extra plywood tops. Take a look at some of the unbraced MDF stands sold for double nickles. I know.... I'd never use one either....my point is that they DO work and many of them last for 10 years or more so yours should be fine...

Thanks for the reasurance and will still be add to stand just so I don't get in the discusion with my parent in why I made one and didn't buy one and thats why my basement is flooded

LOL if you skin that thing with 1/2" plywood you will be able to park the familly mini-van on top of it...let alone your tank...

I understand about the safety issue with DIY and yes I know that some non-fish people would rather see you BUY a piece of junk MDF stand from wally world because it SAYS aquarium rated on the box than build a REAL one.

Time to show them that you know what your doing...
