Ok, right now I am trying to get my pair of JD's to breed again.

Thought it might be interesting to post up what I'm doing, maybe it'll help someone else, and hopefully I'll get some tips, info, and generally to see what I am doing right and wrong. This is all new to me, so its a bit of an ambitious venture.

What I've got: A male and female both roughly 3 inches.

Background: The pair were living in my 120, which is where they laid their first spawn a few weeks back. Unfortunately that didn't work out and I lost all the wigglies.

Steps taken: I've now moved my pair into a 14g tank with a cave for them to hide in. They are alone in the tank. Hope that since they have no more distractions they'll breed.

Water Temperature is at 28 degrees Celsius, feeding them flakes and frozen mosquito larve.

They were moved into the smaller tank on Saturday 28th of March.

Current activity there isn't much going on in there, mostly just hiding in the little cave I've built for them.

My plan is to leave the female there with him for another month roughly, I have another female the same size as this one in the main tank so if Mickey doesn't breed, I'll swap her for Mallory. But given that these two are a "pair" I'm hoping for the best.

Thats that! Anything ideas or anything are always welcome.

Hmmm... see the problem is that I do not have the space to set up another tank. That and my bf would possibly kill me if I tried to get a 20-30g tank in the house.

Would it then be more effective to just put them back into the main tank and wait?

Ya... Wait........ til they spawn.. then when the wigglers START wiggling ;) Pull those right away and put THEM in the 14g ;)

Ok, then I'll move them back into the main tank.

Now, I have read that people have removed the rocks/jars that their fish have bred in.

IF I do this, how would I do it?

Male and female have been moved into the main tank, and it looks like my male has taken a liking to my other female. Suspect that eggs will be coming again soon.

All the signs are up, her vent is down, aggression is up... so, hopefully there will be success soon.
