Prolapsed Rectum?

55g planted tank.

2 year old Severum

5ppm nitrate, 7.4 ph, 78F

Weekly 20% WC

I feed Hikari Cichlid Staple, Hikari Sinking Carnivore pellets, and HBH Veggie Fish Food Flakes.

Been about a week with this symptom. Severum eats just fine, hasn't changed his personality, and doesn't appear bloated.

I don't see any parasites protruding from the rectum but it appears to be an open wound with part of him protruding...

I've been treating basic melafix to help with the open sore.

It might go back in on its own.One of my cichla seems to have this every month and it goes back in in a few days.

They do go back on their own occasionally. Melafix is not going to help this. That looks a little inflamed, try feeding two or three skinned peas, after that do not feed anything for 5 days.
