I have a 15 gal tank with fancy guppies that are definetly breeding. My questions are, how do you know if a female is pregnant? And are they eating the fry?

I've have guppies just have fry in the tank they just appear , you can tell when a female is pregnant because of the fat belly don't know too much about gups but that's from my experience

Thanks famous, that's what i thought but i keep thinking they're pregnant but no new fry pop up, so i dono.

did you notice any eggs i never see them i just come home with fry but never any signs of eggs i think the female guppy holds her fry until birth

you can tell when the female guppy is close to giving birth by their eye color... when the female is close to giving birth their eyes tend to darken and if they are the semi transparent type you can see the eyes of the upcoming fry... isolate the female before she gives birth and put hidingplaces because she is canniballistic

u can get baby hide grass and cover the bottom with it, or get a breeding box but i wouldnt only put her in there when ur absolutly sure shes going to go that day as thy are usually small for her and she might get stressed if u leave her in to long. if u have lighting u can try java moss if u can find any. excellent hiding spot for fry.

i keep my breeding guppies at 78-80 they breed fine. Give ur females a nice meal variety. a varity of meals a few times a day is great :)
