its exactly that a record, since people started recording it, the last 10,000 years the earth has been remarkable stable, research some of the massive climate changes that happened before, including all the ice ages, then look up how even couple thousand years our pole just up and switch, north becomes south and south becomes north, and for a few years we are left with very little magnetic field to protect us from the sun, thus increasing temperatures.... this was due to happen in the 1600s, so we are a little past do for a major catastrophy
