I have a 20 gallon long tank with 3 female convicts and 2 male convicts. I wanted to set up ideal filtration for breeding. I installed a penguin 200 and a AC50. What do you guys think? Too much? Perfect?
A large sponge filter with a good air pump would do well once cycled (put it in now and in two weeks remove one HOB and in another three weeks remove the other HOB). They calm the water to make it more conducive to breeding and the fry won't be pushed around by the flow or sucked in a filter.
Otherwise put a foam cover on the pickup tubes of the HOBs to stop the fry from going in and on the output of the HOBs to calm the water flow.
The problem was the Penguin 200 wasn't pushing enough water. the other half of the tank was almost completely still. Now with the addition of the ac50, everything seems to filtering great. The Convicts aren't being pushed around by to much flow. I see what everyone is saying about the filters with the fry. What do you recommend to cover the filter so the fry don't get sucked up?
