in order to keep these healthy in a nano planted tank by themselves would any extra care need to be taken other than the occasional feeding of something like hikari sinking wafers? basically, what is a good diet for them and do they need any kinds of supplements? if so, how often would that be and in what amounts?

They do not need supplementation. They will eat algae, decaying plant matter, and leftover foods. If the tank is not stocked with fish, drop in some occasional food. The more of a food source, the more readily they will reproduce.

They do need some calcium for good shell growth.Calcium rich foods or a small amount of crushed coral added to the tank to buffer the water would be good for them.

MTS and ramshorns are not as susceptible to shell issues as larger snails like nerites, pomacea bridgesii, etc. What is the source waters pH? If 7ish or higher they will not likely have any shell issues at all. Apple snails require buffering and calcium supplementation.

That will depend on the type of ramshorn. Many types of ramshorns are affected by calcium levels, and all snails are affected by low pH.

That's true, Columbian ramshorns require a calcium rich diet and buffered pH. Common snails will get erosion, but rarely have significant problems from it.
