I would like to find out what would be considered a proper diet for my new fish, the guy that i am getting him from said the fish eats any and everything(feeders, pellets, steak, chicken, bologna, etc, etc)i find it hard to believe a few of the things listed are healthy and would like you guys opinion, thanks!!!

Balanced diet, meaty foods. Liver, chicken gizards, heart. Shrimp and dryed krill are great for bringing out the red in his fins. Silver sides/other frozen fish, earthworm, red worms, black worms, blood worms. Sinking carnavore pelets, algae waffers. Etc.

I fed my little guys bloodworms when they were small, and moved them to shrimp and smelts when they would accept it. That was usually at about 3-4". This must work in keeping them small, because all 4 of my RTC's ONLY grow about an inch or so a month. :D

Lucy gets market shrimp, raw tuna meat, beef heart. She's a bit large now at 12" or so for frozen krill to fill her up. Larger meals every other day seem to be better once they reach about 6". She was spooky and hid most of the time until she reached 12". Now she's starting to learn the feeding schedule and taking food from our hands.

IMO the larger meals also help calm her down and reduce the danger to tankmates.
