I'm getting a large tank and sump together for a good deal was wondering if there is any benefit to adding a good protein skimmer to it or just use the compartment for a crap tun of lace rock and lace rock rubble, this is for a hardscape only tank and though i know the benefits for saltwater i don't know any for fresh besides the clarity of the tank

any input welcomed, however first hand experience or knowledge would be awesome as i don't want to spend 300+ for something that will be useless for me

Absolutely not needed or particularly beneficial for FW. Spend that money elsewhere if you have cash to burn. UV, back up pump, back up canister (FX5 or something), bead filter, etc.

=p thank you =] got 3 pups, two mains and one wired to a float valve and large battery that is rechargeable incase of a power outage, might not fit in the sup but i can always attach the sup to a 10g tank and put the pumps in there =p thank you for the input. wish i could justify an fx5 =p don't have mega monsters yet so will hold off on that for bigger paychecks

i really like your sig by the way I totally agree =p
