i've seen these plastic covers people put over their stinr***'s stingers, do any of you owners do this?

Its pretty useless IMO. Its a pain in the ass to get it on, and it comes off with the stinger when they shed it. Also you run the risk of pushing it too far and cuasing infections and stressing out the ray.

the reason they are on is for shipping... to help keep them from puncturing the bag

only used for transport, causes injury with long term use. safety of people handling and injecting stingrays only in mind.

Since he asked if anyone does this, I thought he meant if anyone does this regularly to rays that they are keeping. Other than shipping, theres really no reason to have them on.

No point in doing it other than for shipping, applying will stress the ray and potentially put yourself in danger........
