Protein Skimmer for my 125? Questions.

They can be used on freshwater, correct?

Which one do you guys recommend? [I will have 4 or 5 Pbass in my 125.]

Do you need any other special gizmos and gadgets to run them?

What's the deal with them? Are they necessary?

they "can" be used in FW tanks but people rarely do. they are more efficient in SW tanks. iMO, save your money and get a UV sterilizer

There are specially designed protein skimmers that are effective for freshwater, but they are very expensive. A protein skimmer removes organics to clean your water.

A UV sterilizer clarifies water by killing free-floating algae and bacteria. They are also a good way to prevent disease, but only with a proper flow-rate.

Spend the $$$ on a nice sump set up. You will get very little benefit from a skimmer on FW just as all the others have said.
