I kno they are used for salt water tanks but ive heard of them being put on tanks,for cichlids.Would a protein skimmer be loud.Can someone give me some info.

Protein skimmers arent very quiet, the oxyginate the water very well, But arent like a normal filter. They take all the bad junk out of the water on salt water tanks but dont work as well on fresh water. Its only good if its free on a fw imho
tried it with little avail, just doesnt get the protien like it will in a salt tank. not worth it.
