Just curious if anyone has turned an old whey protein tub into a canister and if they have directions on what they did? I just look at all the protein I go through and for some reason it just seems like they would make good canisters that would stand up well. Any thoughts?

Believe it or not but I was just thinking about this EXACT same idea. I guess it depends on the size of protein container. I know usually the containers are used for 2lb and 5lb so idk if it'll be feasible for larger aquariums.

These are Mines. I want to make it a sealed canister so idk how to really go about it. Maybe we can help each other out.

Nah maybe you should use a tub of jack3d as a sump look

Just wash it out well...prob could run it through the dishwasher. I use similiar containers from protein/coffee to hold my monster pellets.

I was thinking to put 2 small bulkheads and make my own version of aresun rf600. Seal the cover of the container with thread seal. What you think Mr Wednesday?

Ha I totally forgot about this thread until I googled protein tub filter. It appears I may have been the originator of this idea along with Yodins. I haven't attempted it at least not yet, however I have several near empty tubs and they may make a nice filter in the outdoor pond. If I implement it I have a few idea's maybe do it air powered with a sponge prefilter, perhaps do a moving bed as it would provide much more room then a 2 liter bottle.
