protien skimmer ??

Okay well I bought this 75 gallon tank off a guy who had it set up for salt water it has this protien skimmer that come with it, now I dont know, Im kinda new ,but can this be used with my freshwater set up its a filter right?
and if I can what do I need to have it in working order I all ready have a pump for it .

protien skimmers don't work very well on freshwater tanks because of the differances in serface tention. (bubble size basicly). Your better off selling it on Ebay or trading someone on MFK for something you can use.

its not practicle. it can be done, but you need to be able to inject a crap load of air to get it to foam. even if you get this done, it wont be efficient enough to make it worth it. you might play your hand at a FOWLR saltwater setup. that stands for (fish only with live rock). its fairly simple just add a few extra steps.

At best itll do a good job of oxygenating your water.Better to sell or trade it Ive ended up with a few and I sold or gave them away.
