Would a protine skimmer work for freashwater? I know it collects all the disolved waste particles. WOuld it help?

A protein skimmer WILL work on freshwater, provided it's designed right. A typical SW skimmer probably won't do you any good.

Thats some incredable results! I know those skimmers are considered cheep freashwater skimmers but i cant drop that kind of cash. Is thier a option "B"?
There are planted tanks that could really do with these...I wonder if there would be a way to make the bubbles using co2 instead though so you wouldnt gas it all out with o2.
They can work if setup correctly. You won't see as much off a benefit as in a salt system, but it could work.
