has anyone ever heard of this species before? it is the mos stunning thing that I have ever seen but there is no information on them at all... ANY info would be welcome, I am sure that I cant afford them but i am just curious about them.
That looks like some of the specimens I've seen pictured of what was formerly known as
Trimeresurus f. flavomaculatus. I think one of the new names proprosed for this complex is
Parias flavomaculatus.
If I'm right, these would be a subspecies closely related to
P. f. mcgregori, so basically a large, egg-layer tree viper from the Phillipines. That species has a range over a number of small islands and I suspect has quite a bit of natural variation.
The specimens pictured appears to be small yet which might explain why I've never seen one that looks exactly like that.
Please note the slight spelling differences of the specific epithet. An
o instead of an
i for the second vowel and the
us vs.
a ending for gender agreement.
Sometimes trying different combinations of spelling arrangements can really help with internet searches.
