Hi I´m thinking in buying a lungfish, probably Protopterus amphibius.
someone knows if they can be bred?

Welcome to MFK!!!

Anything is possible. I hope you have alot of patience. There's been only one amphibius available in the US in the last several years. He was in the country for 2 years and fought recurrent bloat for most of his captive life. I was looking for one for years before this availability from a Singapore supplier came along. And, I haven't seen another one available since its arrival. You're going to be hard pressed finding one. I would imagine the chances of finding 2 available will be astronomical and finding 2 of opposite sexes would have to be the monument of sheer luck.
P. amphibius has yet to be spawned in captivity. In fact, little of their spawning behavior is known in the wild.

Hopefully another UK member can answer the first question for you.

SALs have been bred in captivity a few times. All spawns have occurred in large pools/vats with the spawning pair being introduced to each other only for the spawning. Breeders were conditioned separately and females were removed from the spawning pool immediately following the spawn.
