Well, I picked up a Pike, don't know much about him except that he is indeed a pike, excluding the fact that the guy told me that "it's a peacock bass, they get big, they're pretty cool" but he was only $9 so i got him. right now he's about 2.5-3" long and in a 20 long with some other little fishes that might become lunch. It's a venuslea.

i'll try tomorrow, it's pretty shy right now, at the store he was all about swimming in front of the glass now, he's hiding behind a rock, i hope he comes out of his shell.

Rock on! Way to splurge into the world of Crenicichla! They are a blast!! Gotta love them Midwest LFS....they have problems identifying their own thumbs from the rest of their fingers....

thanks P, joe, and polomax.

Well he still seems pretty reserved, hiding in a stump. Is this normal activity? And do they need any special diet? and a point in the right direction of any good basic info on them would be great.

Sorry I got off the subject earlier. Welcome to the world of crenicichla. If you do have a ven it is gonna eat all its tankmates sooner or later, and you will need to get a much larger tank for it, as it can get really big. Like 16'' big. you will need a 100g at least. Lets see some pics when you can.
