Yesterday i was feeding my pumpkinseed, trying to drop the worm where he would notice it, and he just came up and snatched it out of my hand! He did it again and after that he was too full for another. Has anybody else gotten their sunfish to eat out of their hand?

Jepp, I have.

I really love it, but that is some time ago, because I changed the keeping from a tank to a larger indoorpond with several Goldfishes, but I think after a while back in a tank the fish will get used to it again quiet fast.

What´s the current size of yours?

:)

All our natives will feed out of our hands, even our madtom and bullhead.

The longear and green sunfish are the first ones up there trying to eat, then the LMB.

When I stick my hand down in there to feed the bullhead and madtom I usually have to physically push the other fish out of the way so they won't steal the food.

Actually most of mine will try to eat my actual hand lol. My bass had my finger halfway in his mouth yesterday when I was trying to put the algae scraper in.

I just found it odd considering i caught him last week.

Yeah, sunfish learn quick, it's kind of astounding.
All they think about is food, they turn doglike in a very short amount of time.

When I was a kid I had 2 inch pumpkinseed and had him jumping out of the water and doing little tricks for food within about a week.

i think my sunfish are mentally handicapped they are afraid of everything and i have had them for over two months

well, my bluegill I gave to the park ranger wouldn't eat from my hand, only ate it if it was sinking or swimming.
