ANY KNOWLEDGE ON GROWTH OF RED BELLY'S MINE ARE 1 YEAR OLD AND I THINK THEY SHOULD BE BIGGER:screwy:

it depends on the tank size, food and water conditions (other reasons but these are the main)
tank size?
filter?
food?
how many?

generally in the first year they should reach 5-7" at least but somewhere around 6 is the norm and 7 is with good conditions

also terns (yellow versions of the RBP) will usually reach 7" in the first year (faster growth rate)

how big is yours?

55 GAL, NOW LIVE ONLY

How many and how big are they? How often do you do water changes?

4,5INCHES, AS NEEDED

what is as needed? when it gets dirty? when water parameters are off? They sound a little small in size. They grow an 1" or so a month til 5-6" and then gain an 1" every other month or so after that point.

I wouldn't say they are way small but there are somethings you could do to optimize growth faster probably..

Ho many do you have in a 55 ? Any way , Live feedings WILL Stunt growth
as well as a 55 gal .Good luck .

55g will be fine for 4.. yeah a little small but not growth stunting as long as water is on par... I agree stray away from live feedings though..

filtration?

1- i would stop with feeders (or reduce to once a month)
2- swich them to frozen like talapia, shrimp, cod ,pollock... also pellets
3- make a water change schedule so you can follow it and not miss one (should do one per week at least) eventually it will just become habit)
4- upgrade filtration (even if they filter says up to 75 gal for a 55 gal pirahas are messy so they could easily use 2 of the filters or a large cannister
5- powerhead for activity which will help them to be hungrier and also grow more

5 little things that will help them grow bigger faster

also a larger tank would be good too

i heard if you don't do live feedings they become less agressive
