Ok, so I have an original PS2, not the slim one. I have had the PS2 for 5 years and have not had a problem until now. How long are these soppose to last? Lately I have been playing guiter hero 3 a lot (1-2 hours at a time) and once it froze up and I couldn't get it to unfreeze, so I turned it off. Today I was playing a DVD game (about a half hour) and the volume wasn't working and it kept showing a black screen that said pause, play, rewind, etc. and it did this several times. I touched it and it was very warm. This is defianetly a problem with the PS2 because I have tried it on several tvs. Does anybody know what is wrong? Thanks

i have one of the origionals from when they first came out, no problems, what you can do is take it apart and clean out the dust by the fan, also remove the fan screen, i do this once every 6 months now and it plays like a dream
My son's PS2 was doing this every so often and we would blow the fans out and it just quit the other day so I bought him one of the slim ones for Christmas this year.
It's just a matter of time, they all break down sooner or later. Just depends on how much you play them also.

My one ps2 died a couple years ago.. Got the slim one and didn't play it for a long time. Now I got a xbox 360 which i like 100x better.
