Pseudacanthicus pirarara L25 "Scarlet" should not be, considering its end size (1,5 feet) a Monster... And that's why I never considered reporting the breeding story here on MFK...
but considering its behavior, its body structure, its wilderness during mating, it IS, indeed, a Monster !
So I'm glad to present you a few pictures, from 2008-2010, when I succeed in "cracking" the specie... as far as I know, it was a world premiere with 3 spawnings (and fry) in a row.
The whole story is referenced in www.planetcatfish.com and an article was published on both German and US versions of AMAZONAS.
enough with teasing... let's go to the pictures
