My LFS has some of these in the 6" range. They are labeled as Caracharra plecos but they admit they have no idea what they are.

I know jack about plecos. I searched through all the pics over at planet-catfish and this is what I came up with. Wasn't much info on them, however.

They are $40 but I could probably get them for a few dollars less. Is that a good deal?

Could anyone tell me anything about them? They look like true []v[]onsters!

Also called the pineapple pleco, found in the Orinoco, Rio apure, not too common, and for 40 dollars would be a very good price I think. Any chance it is a Pseudoinelepis genibarbis, as they are very similar, when smaller. They don't have an adipose fin, and have 5 anal-fin rays, (whereas Hypostomus and Pterygoplichthys have 4).

I am 98% sure it is the fish I posted. It even sat on the bottom with its mouth off of the ground like the one in the pic. After seeing pics of Pseudoinelepis genibarbis I doubt that it is it.

How big do they get and what is their diet? Im not into plecos cause of how much they crap, but I really like this guy. Is he a pooper like the commons?

Omnivore so bit of both. Slightly more veggies if anything though. I haven't had any personal experience with these fish, but everyone I've talked to that has always told me the same things- very docile, placid fish and has a great personality.
