Likely gonna have to wait until it's bigger.. unless something new surfaced that I've not heard about. The picture also isn't ID friendly. Would need an over view shot as well.
Sorry as this is the best pic that i can provide cause i just screencapped the vid from my local fish seller. Here’s a link of the video maybe you can see better.Dont look like the regular tsn out there.thebiggerthebetter
I apologize if my account doesnt say that im from the philippines. Its probably because i made my account here in mfk when i was just 13yrs old.. that was 8yrs ago. I just recently went back on this site about a few months ago. Anyway,I see what Ron is saying but unless these are already 1.5'-2', which they don't look like, it'd be hard to even attempt to tell the species for me. EDIT: the FB video says 10".
Why not say in your stats you are in Philippines? Or is it a secret?
I think there is only a point in pursuing the species ID if these are claimed to be wild caught (and the price corroborates it). If not, I must presume these are culls from the farming operation or these are cheaply produced in SE Asia, both of which could be the fasciatum or a mutt.

Thanks for the info! Much appreciated!Says P. Fasciatum right in the sale add/video post...sure, vendors are not always 100% accurate nor are their suppliers so things can get through the cracks but i agree withthebiggerthebetter in that if you do not know the collection point nor have any additional info the debate/question stops there. I say there "farmies" 100%... Theyve used 2-3 diff. sub species since the beginning to make farmed hybrids, most likely for faster growth/larger yeilds for food production. This was 10-20yrs+ ago now so who knows what were left with in these farmed fish. From what i can see... there losing bars/pattern and thats y they may look special/different. Just from using the same watered down genes over time... Most of the batches i see brought in resemble the 1's in this video lately.
Same thing happened with bass sp.... there mostly all farmie hybrid junk. All relative i suppose as laws tighten and farmed animals are more readily available to the masses at lower cost.
Its alright! I didnt take any negativity from itHey, no problem. Sorry. I was mostly just being nosy. And welcome back.
Culls if from food fish farming in SA. Or farmed for our trade in SE Asia. Either way poor genealogy.
IDK what to expect from them in terms of life span because it varies so much. It could be 5 years or it could be 25 years.
In terms of max size, they will not exceed 2.5'. Some will stay at 2' or take some time to reach it.
