Pseudotropheus sp. "Acei"

They are one off the most peaceful mbuna. And yes the males and the females in essence are identical. (When the get older I could tell the male apart fairly easily since male's dorsal fins loose some yellow.)

As for tankmates with peacocks/haps... It can be done, but in general over time it just isn't the smartest to mix mbuna with haps/peacocks. Honestly the only type I have never had problems with are yellow labs (Labidochromis caeruleus.)

As ikevi said, it can be done. But as with all fish, different Acei will have different attitudes/behaviors. Definitely a beautiful Mbuna. Go ahead and give it a shot; just keep a close eye on things.

The trouble will be that they will school and take the same space the haps and peacocks like... They are peaceful comparative, but they are still mbuna...

yea i know .cause i got a group of yellow lab in my tank too ..as far as it go every one still good with each other

mike means that they swim together. i have two in my 180 gallon tank and they swim together everywhere together! its neat to watch, but like mike said they will occupy the same space in the tank as haps and peacocks.. which isnt a big problem if the tank is larger.. i love mine-they are great fish.

what do you plan on keeping with them? how big is the tank?

210gallon ....with some peacock alot of hap and a group of yellow lab....:headbang2

oh my god that will look so good! i would get a group of aceis to flock together-like 4 of them would look great. just fyi keep an eye on the yellow labs-they may eventually get eaten by those big fat haps lol.. some of those haps (depending on what you choose) can get well over a foot long..

cant wait to see your tank!

I think it would definitely work in the short term. As far as the long term, I think it will mostlikely work as long as one of those mbuna don't have the unexpected really bad attitude. I would say go for it and just keep an eye on them. I agree that those haps might try and make lunch out of the mbuna once they get some size ont them.
