Excited to see a pair starting spawning activity- colors were accentuated and they started defending a large piece of African wood. The pair circled and paired in usual cichlid fashion- several hours later a large clutch was laid consisting of several hundred small white eggs. I’ve had these fish for about 6 years and I estimate they are at least 7 years old. I keep them in hard Texas water, no heater, pH around 8.2. I had recently moved them to a different tank where the afternoon light shines in since their tank busted a leak.
