Hello all!

I have a question for anyone who has kept Ptychochormis Oligacanthus. I've had three for a couple of months now and the biggest one, I'm going to assume male, has begun to show red in the back of his dorsal and anal fin. I can try to snap a pic when I get home.

Has anyone seen this with there's that they've kept? I've never seen any pictures online of one with red. Perhaps a geographical variant?

Let me know what you think?

Thanks

Some quick research shows they are called a "Northern Red fin" so maybe I'm just ignorant on Oligacanthus overall haha oh boy

Thanks yeah I just have never seen, or noticed, a picture with the red fin. So that is an indication that the fish is male?

With mine, the males steep profile and extra size were the indicators I used.
These pics were from almost 20years ago, and in other pics the female doesn't show any red at all, but I can't recall whether it would be a specific gender ID trait or not.
I tookthe fry to the 1997ACA convention auction in Chicago.
