The fish shown by 'stratoquarius' and 'ciclasoman' are P. oligacanthus. ' duanes' pic is a P. grandidieri. Here's a couple of pics of my adult pairs

Hey Notho, its great to hear that I have your offspring, they are such amazing fish I am hoping one day to have a tank set up just for them. I love your adults, I read they can get to 10" how large would you say yours are?

anyway heres an up to date pic of the largest one I have, I have no clue how to sex them but this one is beautiful

I noticed those paratroplus in the 2nd pic to. I love Madagascan species. You have some awesome fish buddy!

Where did you get the Lamena if you do not mind me asking? I have been looking for some other variants of paratropulus myself.

Hi 'Stratoquarius'
The pair of 'oligacanthus' shown are about 4 years old. They are full grown, the male being about 10" TL and the female 7". They are glutonous feeders but very slow growing like most Madagascan cichlids. They seem to do best when mixed with other Madagascar cichlids such as 'grandidieri' and polleni (or bleekeri). I also have them in with Paretroplus maculatus but Paretroplus in my experience are not able to compete with the Ptychochromis or Paratilapia sp. when it comes to feeding. Paretroplus love grazing, shaking their heads near the gravel to stir up food particles. I'm thinking of moving them out and into either a species tank or mixed with other Paretroplus species. I have P. 'kieneri', 'petiti' and 'menarambo' as well. Good luck with your 'oligacanthus'. By the way, yours should be of breeding size by now. I was surprised a couple of months ago when a 3" male and a 2" female put down a spawn.
If I can be of any more help, please don't hesitate to contact me.
-Jim
