Wonderful present this morning :)
We've been anticipating this day, and never thought it would arrive. I'm looking for advice on next steps.. tank divider? Raise current temp, its 80 now? Remove the rock? I'm not sure how successful this will be since its their first time. Input is most appreciated.
Thanks folks!

Just posted a quick YouTube clip. I inserted a tank divider after my syno multis tried to snatch eggs. Mom and dad attacked the cats, so I decided a divider was in everyone's best interest. Hopefully there will be wrigglers in a few days, then probably a move is in order, unless I cover the intake tube on my filter.

Thanks for the help Matt, especially with feeding.

Thanks Tanyaelec11, yes this is fantastic!

Hundreds of eggs from our first time parents! They're very watchful, so far, taking turns guarding and fanning their eggs. It's amazing to watch their natural instincts at work. I'm hoping they continue and we see movement in the next few days. Were keeping the area quiet so as not to spook them and watching from a distance.

Any tips on what to use with the intake to protect them from getting pulled in? I'm thinking a non metal mesh /screen wrapped in or around the detachable cap....

Agree with Matt, I've had P oligacanthus spawn, and they were great parents (I did remove other species from the tank though), and small food was also needed, the free swimming fry are very small.

Thanks Duane. Once the eggs are present and presumably fertilized, how long before they are mobile and able to feed independently?

I don't remember for certain, seemed 2 days as eggs, and 2-3 days as wrigglers, then the feeding began.
It was pretty long ago, I believe it was back in 2006 when I took 1" fry to the ACA convention in Chicago.

Thanks Duane. Very helpful info. The eggs appear to be getting darker, which I think is a good sign. So, hopefully tomorrow I should see some wrigglers. I've got golden pearl ready and will get baby brine shrimp as soon as they're free swimming. This is so exciting, especially for such a cvu Madagascar pair!
