so I was at a friends fishroom the other day because he told me he had 3 unidentifyed huge cichlids from Madagascar that where taking up a hole tank and he needed the space.
So I arrive and they where 3 ugly ass old fish. 2 males and a female... the pair kept trying to breed and the 3rd making it impossible.
Stage 2 was identifying the fish, and the first thing I thought of looking at them, as they are old, was the mangarahara cichlids, aka Ptychochromis insolitus, so imagine how exited we both where.
Spent hours learning all about them, but then, we came to realise they are actually just Ptychocromis Grandidieri. That are also cool, but unfortunately not that rare...
Anyway, I didn’t bring them home, but convinced my friend to remove the 2nd male and he is gonna try and breed them, witch normally would be easy but they are way over 8/9 years old...
let’s see...
What do you guys thing, it’s worth the try right?
What do these normally sell for?
Sorry about the picture quality.37D271E2-84F7-4764-BC67-5253821C6B13.jpeg7971B700-91C6-4F7A-B4D4-01A4391943CD.jpeg9B112B1E-B8D9-48B4-9A32-13B8851FC0E5.jpeg

This fish looks like grandidieri as you mentioned before. The older the fish, the more primitive they look and that in my opinion is the attractive draw of Ptychochromis. They will still spawn at that age and produce a couple thousand fry.
