Public aquariums with catfish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Their HAS to be. Theres like hundreds of thousands of public aquariums around the world. Seen them before online in india, bangladesh, south africa, hong kong, sri lanka, etc... even extremely poor countries usually have public aquariums. Btw, i would bet its much more likely for poorish countries to have one. Since they cant afford saltwater.

I'm betting in their native land down south for sure!!!

Some of us fishkeepers should see if CAS in San Fran wants some wels, goonch, and piraiba and then drop off a shipment at their door, walk away and have them raise it up for the public to see :D

I've never seen one of those cats at the Academy of Science. I've been several times in the past couple years. They do have monster Redtails, rip saws, an Arapima's. That place is amazing!!

I am working on donating my 2.5 year old piraiba to the Shedd Aquarium here in Chicago I have been trying and trying for a couple months now by sending emails, calling and leaving messages and really pestering them on Facebook. Hopefully next week I will be hearing back. I want to make Chicago's public aquarium one of the only if not the only public aquarium in the world to house one of these fish. If anyone can assist me in.accomplishing this goal it would be greatly appreciated.

I wish you luck for sure. Sometimes it can be done but other times be prepared for a negative outcome. Major Public Aquaria like Shedd most usually deal only amongst themselves and do not take fish from general public. I understand your fish is rather rare and it should work in your favor, just be prepared, is all.
